Sunglasses for all Seasons

We love our historical borough of Tynemouth. We also love that the oceanic climate here is unpredictable. What does remain constant is a requirement for vision protection whatever the weather. UV and UVB permeates through sun and cloud. All the more reason for us to be vigilant in protecting our eyes. Concept is also a clinically focused opticians, and here, sunglasses are more than a fashion accessory.

Sunglasses are an integral part of your eye health regime and can be adapted to your individual need and lifestyle. When do you wear your sunglasses the most? While shopping, sitting at a café with friends, playing sports, driving or, perhaps while taking a stroll along the beach. Your sunglasses should provide optimum comfort, and Sam will be happy to advise you on the best performing lens category designed for the way you live.

Did you Know?
The more sensitive your eyes are to light, the darker the sunglass tint should be. Bright tints and gradient tints are ideal on cloudy days with little sunlight, whereas dark tints protect your eyes in strong sunshine. When driving, your sunglasses should help reduce the sensation of glare, increase contrast and protect your eyes. Ask us about the award winning Zeiss complete sun protect, self tinting and gradient lens tint portfolio. We have a solution for life on the coast and beyond.
Pop in to see Sam when you’re next on Front Street. Your eyes will thank you for it.

The latest advice for contact lens wearers is that there is no evidence to date that contact lens wear should be avoided by healthy individuals, or that contact lens wearers are more at risk of contracting coronavirus then those wearing spectacles.
To help maintain healthy contact lens wear, all contact lenses wearers should follow correct lens wear and care instructions, including thoroughly washing and drying your hands before handling, applying and removing your contact lenses. Spectacles should be washed regularly using warm soapy water. In the absence of the diagnosis of COVID-2 and in the absence of symptoms of fever, cough, red eye or discharge and provided that scrupulous hygiene is practised then contact lens wear is permissible. Social distancing ( minimum of 2m) should be exercised. Spectacle wear would be the preferred mode of sight correction or daily wear contact lens wear.

Whilst transmission is via viral respiratory particles we know that viral particles can be found in the tears and this can cause viral conjunctivitis. It is probable that the affected individual will experience primary symptoms such as fever and cough.
